The 9 Billion Schools Video Series: Part One
We recently produced a four-part video series that explains the 9 Billion Schools movement we launched earlier this year in Austin, Texas at SXSWedu. The series explains what the movement is, how it came to be and what we hope it will inspire. The video features Lauren Della Bella, the president of SHP Leading Design, and Brian David Johnson, an acclaimed author and futurist. Lauren and Brian were filmed at SXSWedu, where they both spoke about 9 Billion Schools and where SHP sponsored an international design competition.
The first video in the series takes a step back from the big idea behind 9 Billion Schools and explains why an architecture firm would even be interested in shaping the future of education. (Hint: At least part of the answer is the rising prominence of "design thinking.") The first video also explains how SHP came to connect with Brian and his mind-opening "future-casting" process.
In a few weeks, we'll post the second video in the series, which provides a high-level overview of the 9 Billion Schools idea and one of its foundational elements: the importance of life-long, life-wide and life-deep learning.
We hope you find these videos insightful. And we hope you join the movement, too.
